Down In The Dirty... Behind The Scenes
Ludacris recently teamed up with Bun B. and Rick Ross for his new single "Down In The Dirty" from the Disturbing Tha Peace compilation, which I produced. The crazy thing about the record is that it was originally a record that I put together from vocals sent to me by Luda and Ross's A&R's. I had been telling me to send me acapellas for a mixtape that I was working on. I already had the beat and when I heard both of their vocals I was suprised that both of them were talking about how they were getting money down south. I grabbed this E-40 "White Girl" record and made a hook with some of the lyrics from Bun B's verses on that record and called up Bun and asked him to do a lay a verse on the record, the concept being the 3 of the top rappers from 3 of the hottest southern cities. Bun sent the record back in 1 hour. That's how "Down In The Dirty" was created.
What's even crazier is that I was going to put it on a mixtape, but decided not to because I'm working on an album and thought it would be perfect for the album. I held on to it for a while but Chaka Zulu, Luda's manager hit me up one day and asked if they could use my record as a single for the new DTP compilation "Strength In Numbers," which I said yes to. We had to change the hook due to sample clearance issues, but the record is still dope!
This past weekend we shot the video which was shot by Dr. Teeth and Chaka Zulu, the concept was based off of how Craig Mack's "Flavor In Ya Ear" video was shot. Check out some behind the scenes video and photos from the shoot below.
